The Rigmarollers

21st Century Speakeasy Music

Otterton Mill - Otterton Mill, Fore Street, Otterton, Budleigh Salterton, UK

The Rigmarollers bring the joy to packed-out shows with their fresh take on upbeat jazzy blues. Firmly established as live favourites and festival headliners, they are constantly finding new audiences.

Cerys Matthews has featured them on her Radio 2 Blues Show, as did Jazz FM’s David Freeman on Blues & Boogie. The magazines Blues in Britain and Blues Blast (USA) have both handed them great reviews.

The Rigmarollers are a dynamic three-piece, who make a massive sound with vocals, guitar, sousaphone, percussion and harmonica.

A new album of original music is coming this year, following up on ‘21st Century Speakeasy’ and ‘Mr Crump Don’t Like It’.

Harmonica virtuoso Ed Hopwood honed his skills in celebrated UK bands. Julian Marshall has travelled widely in Europe and the US playing music in many traditions. Ewan Penkey is highly acclaimed for his mastery of the sousaphone and double bass. For some shows the trio are joined by clarinettist Lucy Tasker to add an extra dash of New Orleans jazz.

Together they blast out an infectious, joyful and upbeat groove, always getting crowds dancing and singing, frequently earning ‘best live band’ reviews.

The Rigmarollers sell out shows across the UK. They are popular regulars at London’s celebrated Green Note and other venues, while the many festivals they feature at include: Sidmouth Jazz & Blues, Fire in the Mountain, Purbeck Valley, Ealing Blues, The Idler, Upton Blues, Swanage Folk, Rustic Stomp, Leek Blues & Americana.
